For the past several years, painting has been thought to be the only process for changing the color of masonry. However, painting masonry has many disadvantages including but not limited to: ruining the natural appearance, promoting chipping/flaking/peeling characteristics, and leading to an exhaustive maintenance routine. Simply put- masonry requires a breathable surface. Paint creates a non-breathable membrane that does not allow any moisture to escape through the surface as necessary. When the moisture does finally escape, it brings the paint with it by peeling it from the surface.
