FAQ

Brick Staining Process

Q: How long does your stain last?

A: BrickImaging guarantees each project for a 25-year period; however, projects that have now been completed more than 25 years ago (real-time results) have maintained their original appearance without the need of any maintenance or touch-up. We have no doubt that our stain will far outlast the 25-year period and look forward to extending our warranty period in the near future.

Q: What types of surfaces can you stain?
A: We can stain any porous masonry material including brick, block, mortar, or stone with the exception of flat surfaces such as driveways or other high-traffic areas. BrickImaging cannot account for the forces that will be placed on such areas and therefore cannot warrant such work.

Q: What colors can you match?
A: We can match any color you have to any color you desire. This includes dark colors to lighter colors and vice versa. BrickImaging uses precise color management to ensure that every match is in fact- a match that is undetectable to the human eye.

Q: Can you stain over painted brick?
A: Due to the fact that painting masonry work fills in the pores of the material and allows for a higher risk of chipping and peeling, we cannot stain material in this condition; however, some surfaces can be stripped of the paint and then stained and sealed.
*Incorrect methods used for removing paint can cause substantial damage. Please consult with a professional before attempting any type of paint removal from your masonry work.

Q: Can I change the color after it’s completed?

A: BrickImaging strives hard to provide clients with an insight to the finished product through use of samples, previous projects, and education but when necessary, yes- depending on the type of surface, we can change the color up to 3 times and maintain the natural look and feel of the original masonry work. Additional charges may or may not apply depending on the change/s.

Q: Can you correct sandblasting damage?
A: Yes, we can repair minor damage caused by sandblasting. We have had great success repairing walls that have been sandblasted to remove graffiti etc.
*BrickImaging does NOT recommend using any sandblasting techniques to remove graffiti as this permanently etches the graffiti into the surface.

Q: Do you do any other repair work?

A: BrickImaging specializes only in staining masonry work and does not perform any repairs outside of minor sandblasting damage.

Q: Can I see a sample before you do the project?
A: Yes, BrickImaging can provide a sample for review before staining a project. For larger projects with mock walls, BrickImaging gladly invites the architects and others involved with the project to view the staining of the sample and ask any questions that they may have.
